America’s most popular sports league, The National Football League (NFL) was born on September 17, 1920, in Ohio. This year after 100 years later, in the city where it all began, the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the City of Canton came together to give the fans and the American Nation a special gift – Centennial Plaza. This $12.3 million outdoor plaza will feature a restaurant, multiple stages, video screens including space to host a variety of events including concerts, tailgates, and viewing parties.
Located in the Heart of Downtown Canton, Centennial Plaza already has a special place in the heart of people who call Canton home. The landmark will now celebrate the birth and the rich and lasting legacy of America’s most inclusive sports league. Commemorating the first 100 years of the competition, David Baker, the President and CEO of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, expressed that the NFL binds America together and has helped Americans get through tough times such as the Great Depression, WWII, and the Vietnam War.
The plaza features 11 Pylon Signs installed by BlinkSigns that feature all the 25,488 players who competed in the first 100 years of the league. The project was delivered by Blink Signs and the pylons were unveiled on September 17, 2020, in a prestigious event led by David Baker (President & CEO Pro Football Hall of Fame) and Tom Bernabei (Mayor of Canton). BlinkSigns is honored to be a part of the project that celebrates American sports heroes and the greatest athletes that have ever walked on the face of the earth. Being NFL enthusiasts ourselves, we understand the emotional devotion of NFL fans and we are hopeful that we have lived up to the expectations with this project.
We are grateful to the City of Canton and the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the privilege. Centennial Plaza will soon become a major tourist attraction and we are very confident that the fans will love the signs honoring their heroes!
