To prevent traffic accidents, OKC code strictly prohibits any sign between 2 feet and 8 feet in height within the “intersection sight triangle.” This ensures drivers have a clear line of sight. We use professional site surveys to mark your property’s specific triangle before recommending a monument or pylon location.
Standard sign permits usually take 5–10 business days for review by the Development Center. However, if your business is in a Design District (like Bricktown, Downtown, or Stockyards City), you may need a Certificate of Appropriateness, which can add 4–6 weeks to the timeline.
We recommend Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). Unlike standard plastics, these won’t warp or “oil-can” in 100°F+ temperatures. We also use UV-cured, automotive-grade inks to prevent the “Sooner Sun” from fading your brand colors within the first two years.

If you are building an outdoor advertising sign (Class A), it must generally be within 600 feet of a conforming commercial or industrial business and must be in a zoned area. Crucially, the Oklahoma DOT prohibits any temporary signs—like campaign or event yard signs—within the state highway right-of-way, which includes the entire area between the highway pavement and the surrounding fences or property lines.
