Timeline
Elevate street-level brand presence, ensure nighttime legibility, and remain well within code allowances.
Malbon engaged our team to deliver high-visibility exterior branding for a new retail suite at 11600 Century Oaks Terrace. The objectives were to maximize pedestrian and corridor sightlines, maintain a premium finish that reflects the brand, and meet local signage codes without overbuilding.
Back-Lit (Halo-Lit) Channel Letters
The signage featured a premium halo-lit channel letters design with 2-inch deep 304 stainless steel returns and 0.090-inch stainless steel satin faces, paired with clear acrylic backs and pin-mounted on a 1-inch stand-off. White LEDs created a uniform halo effect that enhanced nighttime visibility while maintaining refined daytime contrast. Mounted to the existing sign band, the design optimized both performance and aesthetics, staying within the 6.14 sq. ft. area limit and meeting all code requirements.
Double-Sided Blade Signs
The cabinet is a 4-inch deep aluminum structure painted green, featuring routed aluminum faces painted in PMS 357 C and a ½-inch white acrylic push-through logo. It is illuminated internally with white LEDs to provide two-way visibility. The mounting system consists of a side bracket supported by two 2-inch by 2-inch square aluminum tubes, each attached to a 1-foot-high by 4-inch-wide by ¼-inch-thick plate, with power routed through one of the support arms. The sign is installed at a mounting height of 8 feet and has a total sign area of 2 square feet.
Austin limits signage to 20% of the first 15 ft of façade (28.95 sq ft). Our design is only 8.14 sq ft—well under the cap. Optimized letter sizing and a compact blade ensure legibility without exceeding limits.
The design required clear contrast by day and strong visibility at night. Stainless faces ensured daytime readability, while a white LED halo and internally lit blade delivered an impactful nighttime glow.
Tight corridor and limited façade? Pin-mounted letters with a 1" offset and discreet blade power feed keep runs hidden, with disconnect access built into the details.
Primary ID provides strong frontal read; blade extends brand presence along the walkway.
Stainless steel and routed/aluminum construction align with a high-end retail aesthetic.
Exterior set pairs a refined halo-lit primary ID with a compact, internally illuminated blade, ensuring brand legibility from multiple approach angles
