Objective
Ensure consistent, branded signage that supports smooth customer engagement at all entry and pickup points.
BlinkSigns collaborated with Target Corporation to develop a comprehensive exterior signage solution for their department store at 3701 Broadway St, Quincy, IL. The objective was to upgrade the store’s visibility, support efficient customer navigation—especially for drive-up services—and reinforce brand consistency across multiple signage types.
Front-Lit LED Channel Letters (Bullseye Logo & Target Letter)
The custom channel letters feature aluminum retainers painted in Spraylat 302 Target White Gloss with matching 1/2" x 1" trim caps and Atuglas acrylic faces. The Bullseye logo is 6 inches deep and illuminated with Sloan VL+ White Long 6500K LEDs, while the letters are 5 inches deep, maintaining a consistent look and bright, uniform lighting throughout.
Front-Lit LED Channel Letters (CVS Pharmacy)
A separate set of front-lit LED channel letters was created for CVS Pharmacy. These letters feature 5-inch deep pre-finished Hunter Red returns, paired with Jewelite True Red trim caps and Chemcast 3/16" red acrylic faces. Illumination is provided by GE Lighting Solutions Tetra Max Red LEDs, powered by GE Lighting Solutions power supplies. The letters were mounted to the existing fascia as required.
Front-Lit LED Channel Letters (DRIVE UP)
The custom channel letters are constructed with 5-inch deep aluminum retainers, finished in a glossy 302 Target White for a clean and professional appearance. Each letter is bordered with a 1-inch white trim cap, adding definition and a polished edge. The faces of the letters are made from white acrylic, ensuring a bright and even light diffusion. Illumination is provided by Sloan White VL+ LEDs at 6500K, offering a crisp, white light that enhances visibility and legibility. The letters are flush mounted to the building facade using 1/2-inch to 1-inch spacers, creating a subtle dimensional effect while maintaining a sleek, integrated look.
Drive-up Stall Signs
The drive-up stall signs are fabricated from pre-finished white aluminum panels, featuring both a recessed face and back panel for added visual depth and durability. A car graphic is digitally printed and applied to the first surface over an opaque vinyl background, finished with a semigloss overlaminate for protection and enhanced appearance. Additional vinyl graphics, including the "Drive Up" text and other messaging, are also applied to the first surface. The signs are securely attached to the support structure using countersunk fasteners, ensuring a clean, flush installation.
Solar-Powered Beacons Signs
The solar-powered beacons signage is constructed with a durable aluminum skin and frame, designed to withstand outdoor conditions. The top logo is created using a routed-out window backed with white acrylic and enhanced with digitally printed vinyl graphics applied to the first surface. The primary copy features 1/4" routed-out openings with 1/2" clear acrylic push-thru letters, shoulder-cut and finished with first surface white vinyl and a second surface diffuser for optimal light diffusion. Service doors are integrated as needed for maintenance access, and all fasteners are countersunk screws to maintain a smooth, clean finish. Both the face and pole cover are painted red for high visibility, while white LED illumination—powered by integrated solar panels and self-contained batteries—ensures energy-efficient operation and nighttime readability.
Monument Signs
The monument signs consists of two deep aluminum cabinets painted in PMS 186C Red, each equipped with a flex face tensioning system for a smooth, taut appearance. The faces feature digitally printed graphics on flexible material, and the signs are internally illuminated using Sloan White LEDs to ensure bright and even lighting. These cabinets are securely bolted to pole supports and skinned with aluminum sheets, also painted PMS 186C on exposed ends for a cohesive finish. The supporting structure includes a 2" x 2" aluminum tube frame, skinned with cement board and clad in Nichiha fauxwood panels, finished in a powder-coated wood grain .The base of the sign is constructed with an 8" split-face CMU block, fully grouted for strength, with 4" split-face CMU block used at the pole locations only. Two 5" diameter poles are direct-buried into a reinforced concrete pad, extending 6" above grade and anchored into a support pipe base for stability and durability.
Pylon Signs
The pylon sign features two deep aluminum cabinets, each painted in PMS 186C Red and equipped with a flex face tensioning system for a smooth, professional finish. The faces are digitally printed on flexible material, providing vibrant, high-resolution graphics. Internal illumination is achieved with Sloan White LEDs, ensuring consistent and energy-efficient lighting. The cabinets are securely bolted to pole supports and skinned with aluminum sheets painted PMS 186C on all exposed ends for a seamless appearance. The monument structure and foundation supporting the sign are to be provided by others.
